HALLMARK x PCA - Uni Brief
During my time studying BA (Hons) Illustration at the Plymouth College Of Art, we were visited by Hallmark Cards who assigned us all a creative brief to design a range of greetings cards and wrapping paper based on a chosen pop culture franchise.
These franchises included MARVEL, PIXAR, DISNEY, and STAR WARS.
I decided to do designs based on the Star Wars franchise, but specifically the most recent movie, The Force Awakens. This choice was made as I had only seen cards based on the original trilogy and those characters have been used for so many years that any new ideas would have been very difficult. With the new characters introduced in The Force Awakens, I had a lot more free real estate for untapped ideas, plus the characters were very popular at the time so it made sense to capitalise on this fact.
THE FINAL DESIGNS
The number of designs I created and the fact that I made physical versions of the cards resulted in myself being chosen to undergo a two-week internship at Hallmark Cards HQ in Bradford along with two other students.
I was singled out of the class by the Hallmark representatives because they wanted to highlight that my work was chosen because it was “the standard expected at Hallmark”
I am unable to show any of the work that I created during my internship at Hallmark due to contractual agreement.
