I was commissioned to design a logo for the label “Left Coast Xtracts” from DJ duo Smoakland.

For the design of this logo, I looked to focus on the subject of extracts, and when thinking of that word, the main image that came to mind was that of a teardrop. So I decided to have a teardrop shape with the bottom being a record, and the liquid above being liquid gold as that is a common form of imagery seen to represent success and in the music industry (with golden vinyl records).

With the logo completed, I was then commissioned to design the cover art for every track released under this new label.

Coming up with the design for the covers was left mainly up to my own preferences. They would tell me the name of the track and all I had to do was make sure that each image fit into the same visual style as the logo, and incorporated the liquid gold element.
